"SSL" stands for Secure Sockets Layer, a protocol designed to provide secure communication over computer networks. It encrypts data transmitted between a user’s browser and a web server, ensuring confidentiality and integrity. SSL has largely been replaced by Transport Layer Security (TLS), but the term SSL is still commonly used.
