The primary component of exhaled air is carbon dioxide (CO2). During the process of respiration, the body converts oxygen into energy, producing carbon dioxide as a waste product. This CO2 is expelled from the lungs when we breathe out, and its concentration is notably higher in exhaled air compared to inhaled air.
