The Battle of Midway is considered a turning point in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Fought from June 4 to June 7, 1942, it marked a decisive naval battle between the United States and Japan. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese aimed to eliminate the U.S. Pacific Fleet, but American naval intelligence successfully predicted the attack. As a result, the U.S. forces mounted a counteroffensive that led to the destruction of four Japanese aircraft carriers, a significant blow to Japan's naval capabilities. Midway shifted the momentum in the favor of the Allies, weakening Japanese influence in the Pacific.
