A berry is a type of fruit produced from the ovary of a single flower with seeds embedded in the flesh. Botanically, true berries must have three distinct fleshy layers: the outer skin (exocarp), the fleshy middle (mesocarp), and the innermost layer surrounding the seeds (endocarp). Common examples of berries include strawberries, blueberries, and grapes. Interestingly, some fruits that are commonly called berries, such as strawberries and raspberries, are not classified as true berries in botanical terms.
